Who we are, and what this covers

Lemon Law Atlas (lemonlawatlas.com) is an independent reference site about state lemon laws and related vehicle warranty law, operated from Colorado, United States ("we", "us", "our"). It is not a law firm and provides no legal services; see the disclaimer and terms of use.

This policy covers the website at lemonlawatlas.com. It does not cover the third-party sites we link to: state legislatures, DMVs and their equivalents, bar associations, courts, firms' own websites, and the other sources we cite, which are governed by their own policies. The site is directed to a United States audience.

What we collect, and when

Nothing, in the ordinary case. Every page on this site is a static document. There is no form to fill in, no account to create, nothing to submit, and reading any page sends us no personal information. If we ever add a form (for example, a law-change alerts list), this policy will be updated in the same release, the form will say at its submit button what you are agreeing to, and it will collect the minimum the feature needs.

The theme toggle

The light/dark toggle stores one value, named theme, in your browser's localStorage, and only after you press it. It is read by the page to keep your choice; it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, it identifies nothing, and clearing your browser data removes it. Until you press the toggle, nothing is stored and the site simply follows your system's color preference.

Email you send us

If you email corrections@lemonlawatlas.com with a correction, question, or removal request, we receive whatever you put in the message and keep it in our inbox so we can reply and, for corrections, keep a record of why a page changed. Please do not send sensitive personal information; in particular, do not send us the details of your legal dispute. We are not your lawyers and nothing you send us is privileged.

Information handled automatically by our host

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, including your IP address, browser user agent and the pages requested, and it may set a strictly necessary security cookie at the network layer to distinguish visitors from bots. That happens at the platform level: we do not receive analytics, dashboards or visitor reports from it, and we do not use it to identify anyone. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Cloudflare also offers an email-obfuscation feature that hides published addresses from scrapers. We have opted the contact addresses on this page and the terms page out of it, so the address you need in order to reach us about your own data is plainly readable, with or without JavaScript.

The Bing verification tag

Every page carries a Bing Webmaster Tools site-verification meta tag. It is a static token proving we control the domain. It sets no cookie, runs no script, and reports nothing about you. Search consoles tell us which search queries lead to the site in aggregate; they do not tell us who you are.

Other people's data: attorneys and published decisions

This site republishes limited information about people other than its visitors, from public records, under rules stricter than the legal minimum.

Attorney listings

The attorney directory lists law firms and attorneys practicing in this area of law: firm name, location, the date we checked license status against the state bar's public records, and practice information the firm states about itself, labeled as self-reported. We do not publish personal contact details beyond what a firm publishes about its own practice, and a listing is corrected or removed on request; see the corrections and removal policy for the timelines.

Published decision records

The decisions index summarizes lemon-law proceedings that a state has published. For each record we publish the docket number, the vehicle, the defect category, the disposition, and a link to the source document. We never republish consumer names, addresses, vehicle identification numbers, or the narrative allegations in a filing, even though the underlying public documents may contain them. If you are named in an underlying document and want the derived record here corrected or removed, email corrections@lemonlawatlas.com; the removal policy commits to timelines.

What we do not do

• No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Fathom, no server-side visitor tracking of our own.
• No advertising technology. No ad networks, no retargeting pixels, no affiliate tracking. Sponsored placements on this site are static, labeled content we publish ourselves; they involve no third-party scripts and no tracking. See the advertising policy.
• No cookies of ours. We set none. The one browser-storage value we use is the theme choice described above, which stays in your browser.
• No third-party requests. Fonts are served from this domain; no script, style, image or font is loaded from anyone else's server.
• No accounts, no logins, no profiles, no payments.
• No record of what you read. We keep no record associating any person with any page on this site.
• No data brokers. We buy no personal data and we enrich nothing.

Who processes data on our behalf

Cloudflare hosts the site and processes technical request data as described above (policy). It is currently the only processor. This site sends no email today and uses no email delivery provider; if that changes (for example, an alerts list), this section and the marketing-email section below will be updated in the same release, before the first message is sent.

Beyond processors, we disclose personal information only if legally required to, by a valid subpoena, court order or other lawful demand, and we would rather tell you first where we are permitted to.

Do we sell or share personal data?

No. We do not sell personal data, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not run advertising networks. If that ever changed, we would say so on this page before it happened and give you a way to opt out. Realistically, there is nothing to sell: we hold no visitor data.

How long we keep things

Email you send us stays in our inbox until it is no longer needed for the purpose you sent it for; correction records are kept as the documented reason a page changed. Ask us to delete a message and we will, unless we need it to honor the request itself (a removal request is kept so the removal stays honored). There is nothing else to retain.

Your choices and rights

Ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you; realistically, at most the emails you have sent us. Ask us to correct or delete it and we will. For attorney listings and decision records, the corrections and removal policy is the operative one. We honor these requests for everyone who asks, whatever state or country you live in, without charge and without an account.

Where we stand under the Colorado Privacy Act. The Act applies to businesses above defined thresholds; broadly, those controlling or processing the personal data of at least 100,000 Colorado consumers in a year, or at least 25,000 while deriving revenue from selling personal data. A site that collects no visitor data and sells none is nowhere near either threshold, so the Act does not currently impose obligations on us. We honor access, correction and deletion requests anyway. Marketing email

We send none. This site has no mailing list and sends no email of any kind today. If we ever start one, every message will carry a working one-click unsubscribe that takes effect immediately and our postal address, Lemon Law Atlas, PO Box 203, Larkspur, CO 80118, in the footer, as United States law governing commercial email requires, and this section will describe the list before the first message is sent.

Children

This site is intended for adults; the terms ask that people using it be 18 or older. It is not directed to children and, having no forms, does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. The best protection here is structural: we collect almost nothing, so there is almost nothing to lose. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that transmission over the internet is free of risk.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the site collects or does, this page changes in the same release, and the effective date at the top changes with it. The site launched with this policy; there are no prior versions to reconcile.
