The operating constitution

Advertising policy

Exactly what sponsors buy here, what they cannot buy at any price, and how you can always tell the difference.

Effective

The short version

Sponsors buy clearly labeled advertising space, and nothing else. A paid placement is marked "Advertisement" in words, sits visually apart from the roster, is never mixed into any list or table, and is never presented as a match for your situation. We never recommend a lawyer, never evaluate your case, never take a fee for a case, and never sell words on a reference page. A sponsor has no visibility into, and no influence over, how a fact is verified or when it publishes.

What is for sale

One thing: sponsored placement blocks, in defined positions, clearly labeled as advertising. A placement contains the firm's own copy (subject to the standards below), is separated from editorial content and from the alphabetical roster, and is sold for a stated period at a stated price. Sponsors receive honest reporting of their placement's impressions and clicks, from launch, with no inflation and no invented precision.

A placement is never a recommendation

The line we do not cross: this site never creates the impression that it analyzed your problem and selected a firm for you. No placement is shown as the result of a questionnaire, a quiz, an eligibility check, or any input about your situation, because the site takes no such input. Placement positions are fixed by page design, not by anything about the reader. Labels say "Advertisement" in words; we do not rely on color or position alone to mark them.

We are not a lawyer referral service and do not operate as one. If we ever consider offering case-lead features, that machinery ships only after advertising counsel has approved the exact flow in every affected state; until then it does not exist here, and no intake form appears on this site.

What is never for sale

  • Editorial words. No sponsor edits, previews, or vetoes a reference page, a matrix cell, or a decision record.
  • Roster position. The attorney roster is ordered by a neutral rule (alphabetically). Payment never moves a listing up, and non-payment never moves one down or out.
  • Verification outcomes. How a fact reads, whether it clears verification, license-status checks, and verified dates cannot be bought, hurried, or influenced.
  • Reader data. There is none to sell; the site collects none (see the privacy policy).
  • Payment tied to readers. Placement is sold at a fixed price and nothing else is for sale: no fee-sharing, no per-case payment, no per-lead payment of any kind.

We also do not run display-ad networks or programmatic advertising, and we do not accept vehicle service contract ("extended warranty") affiliate offers, whose incentives point the wrong way on a site about warranty law.

Standards for sponsor copy

Sponsor copy is the firm's own voice, but it runs under our roof, so it meets this floor or it does not run:

  • No "free lawyer" claims and no blanket statement that the manufacturer pays your attorney. Fee statements must be accurate: fee-shifting depends on statute, forum, outcome, and the engagement agreement, and "no upfront fee" is the honest formulation where it is true.
  • No outcome promises, no "we win or you pay nothing" without the engagement terms behind it, no invented statistics.
  • No language implying this site evaluated, matched, or endorsed anyone ("recommended by Lemon Law Atlas" does not exist at any price).
  • Compliance with the advertising rules of the sponsor's own bar is the sponsor's responsibility, and we may refuse copy we believe fails them.

Sponsors must be law firms (or attorneys) licensed and in good standing in the state their placement targets. We check license status on the same public records the roster uses, refuse placements from firms we cannot verify, and may decline any sponsorship without stating a reason. No sponsor's own materials may ever be a source for a published fact, and no sponsor sees a fact, a source-register entry, or a verification pass before it is public. Should this site ever engage a reviewing attorney, that attorney cannot be a sponsor and a sponsor cannot become that attorney.

How you can always tell what is paid

Paid content on this site is marked "Advertisement" in words, adjacent to the content, in text that does not depend on color to be understood. Everything not so marked is editorial and unpaid. There is no native advertising, no sponsored articles, and no undisclosed commercial relationship behind any reference page. If you believe something here blurs that line, email corrections@lemonlawatlas.com; that is a correction like any other and handled under the corrections policy.
